Automobile Insurance Rate Corona California CA
Reader’s Question:
I live in California. I got a ticket in Wisconsin because I went 10mph over the speed limit. I received 3 points for this offense and paid the fine. Does taking traffic school removes the points from my record? I want this removed so that my car insurance rate will not increase.

Although the state of Wisconsin is not a member of the Drivers License Compact or DLC, the state will still likely report this speeding violation conviction, since you have pleaded guilty and paid the fine, to California Department Motor Vehicles since the state of Wisconsin has agreements with other states.
In the state of Wisconsin, a speed 10 mph over the limit is equivalent to 3 points while California’s point listing considers this as a 1-point offense. You cannot take a traffic school that would help reduce the ticket since
you already paid the fine in WI.
To go to a traffic school in CA, there should be an approval from the court clerk or a judicial officer where you received the ticket. However, this may not apply to you if you want to remove the points that will be placed in
your CA license since you received the ticket out of the state.
You can check with CA DMV if you have other options in removing the points you got from Wisconsin off CA driving record.
